Patrick ‘Pat’ Vigil, MD PhD

Dr Vigil is a physician scientist boarded in and practicing Family Medicine. She completed her graduate studies in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan, earning her MD and a completing a PhD in microbiology. Dr Vigil then completed her residency in family medicine in Yakima, Washington. Most recently she practiced full scope in-patient and out-patient medicine (minus obstetrics) in the Tacoma region. She left her last position as an employed physician to focus on building a private practice here in Tacoma.


In addition to practicing medicine, Dr Vigil continues to participate in research and education. She has worked on a variety of basic science and clinical research projections, and has taught students and medical professionals in a variety of educational settings. She currently serves on the board of the Dave Purchase Project, a non-profit focused on harm reduction strategies including the Tacoma Needle Exchange and the nation’s largest group purchasing organization that supplies other harm reduction sites throughout the country.
